About The Project
A 1.1 hectare former industrial site, remediated for residential end-use. The development area had an extensive history of industrial use which included a former iron foundry, railway station and wagon works.
Detailed ground investigations confirmed made ground extending up to 5m in depth along with the presence of numerous obstruction in the ground from former foundations and structures.
Coast designed a remediation strategy to remove the former obstructions and process the made ground to an acceptable engineering aggregate. Earthworks compaction was designed to an appropriate specification to create a development platform suitable for residential housing.
